Lovely Lake Louise

Alliteration intended.

Lake Louise wraps up our trip to BC nicely. We’ve crossed over various timezones in Canada during our trip from Ottawa to Halifax to Vancouver, to our campgrounds in BC and to Alberta which is where Lake Louise is.

At the end of the hike, we estimated that we’ve covered more than 60km in three days since we had about 25km covered in one day.

I ended up with more than 4 or 5 blisters, one broken toe, three blue toenails and any thoughts of putting my swollen feet back into shoes or encasement of any kind is a blistering thought.

Our trip to Canada came to an end. The rest of it was us racing from Alberta to Vancouver to catch our flight that night. It was probably about 850km back to Vancouver and we did it within 8 hrs with a few stops but not many. It was a crazy rush back.

We still had to shower, return the car, unpack, pack and head to the airport for our flight back to Singapore. Which was another 24 hr journey. The flight back was a lot shorter than the flight to Canada as we flew over a more direct route from Vancouver to Hong Kong and to Singapore.

Travel Canada Summer 2014

Our itinerary is not for the faint hearted. Would we do this again? Yes and yes again.

We spent about 5 days hiking and camping at Wells Gray and Mount Robson, of which, half went to travelling/driving time. We misjudged the time it took to get from one campsite to another and we didn’t know that it takes another 1 hour or more to get to the campsite from the time when we see the signboard indicating our arrival to a Park. 😀

It took us another 1 hour or more to drive from the signboard of “Wells Gray Provincial Park” to our Campsite at Clearwater which was another 90km to 100km. Watching the gas gauge became almost obsessive during our trip and we did almost get stranded at one point when we took a gamble and continued on the highway hoping for another gas station to appear. But no, we had to turn back almost 90km to the other gas station before we run dry. #exciting #adventure #canada

Southern Ridges and Henderson Waves

A day out walking from Hort Park through the bridge to Telok Blangah Hill, Mount Faber, Henderson Waves all forming the Southern Ridges, to opposite Vivocity where the trail ends/starts.

It was a good walk with a great view. Easy with made footpaths along the bridges linking the various lookout point. The best view is atop the Henderson Waves (above) and best is during a sunny day at about 4 of 5pm. As you can see from the photos, it was a good sunny day for the walk which allows for great pictures and clear blue skies.

You can allocate about 2 hours to the walk if you are fast and make few stops. We hardly stopped along the way and walked through the Southern Ridges almost within 2 hours to Harbour Front. It’s an easy walk but hardly any shade except for Telok Blangah Hill with some trees.

You should bring a sunhat, sunscreen and lots of water for the walk.
